Families do not cause eating disorders

Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions that stem from a combination of genetic, biological, psychological, and societal factors. While family dynamics influence a person's wellbeing, eating disorders are not caused by families. Blaming families oversimplifies the illness and gets in the way of the support that's actually needed. Understanding the multifaceted nature of eating disorders is essential to providing effective care.

Families are the key to healing.

As a parent or caregiver you might be feeling scared and frustrated that your attempts to help aren't working. You might be carrying guilt and shame, wondering if you should have done something sooner. You might be terrified of making things worse.

These feelings are normal. And you don't have to figure this out alone.

I work with families to identify the ways they can support their loved one while also examining their own beliefs and patterns. Families can become a genuine foundation for healing, not a source of additional stress.
